Sharing moong dal halwa recipe.
Ingredients:
- 200 gms Split Moong Dal Dhuli
- 200 gms Ghee
- 200 gms Sugar (adjust accordingly)
- 150 gms Khoya
- 2 – 3 tblsp sliced Dry fruits (Almonds, Pista)
- 200 gms Water
How To Make Moong Dal Halwa:
- Wash and soak the dal for 4 – 5 hours then strain it during a colander. Let all the water drain away.
- Now grind it to a paste during a mixer without adding water. it's IMPORTANT to notice that the dal should be grinded coarsely. this may offer you the grainy crunchy texture. The mixture shouldn't be very fine.
- Now during a pan boil sugar and water. Let the sugar dissolve . Give one boil and begin the gas.
- during a heavy bottom kadai heat the ghee and reduce the flame to low. Then add the grinded dal mixture.
- Keep stirirng it constantly. confirm the mixture doesn't stick with rock bottom in any case . If required add more ghee, is that the quantity of ghee is a smaller amount then halwa sticks to the bottom . This halwa definetely requires many ghee. So be happy to feature more ghee.
- Once nicely done (bhuno) an exquisite aroma fills up the whole house and golden texture is there.
- Now add the syrup and while stirring continously let the water evaporate. Very soon the the halwa will get thick. Keep stirring continously.
- Add the sliced dry fruits.
- Cook the halwa till the halwa begins to go away the edges of the kadhai.
- Now add the khoya and blend well and let it cook for five mins on low flame.
- Dish out the halwa and garnish with sliced dry fruits.
- Moong dal halwa tastes best when served hot.
